The Journey Center is honored to support local artists through displaying their work. We have Art Openings about every 6 weeks or so and the art stays up until the next rotation. Now that we’ve moved online during the time of Covid-19 we are experimenting with a virtual showing and opening.
Our first virtual art gallery features local Santa Rosa artist, Braden Tavelli!
“My name is Braden Tavelli and I grew up in Santa Rosa, California. In College, I picked up a camera as a means of battling one of my greatest fears: complacency (right after my fear of small talk). I enjoyed using the camera as an excuse to take a new adventure spontaneously at 2 a.m. while attempting to capture something unique, something that pushes the limits of photography. I am not too interested in sunset photography or taking photos of places that have already been photographed. Sometimes I even wrestle with whether I enjoy photography as a hobby at all. Sure, I love the art of photography, the creative challenges I encounter, and the motivation to adventure, but I also cringe at the idea of living behind the screen. Still, I do love and admire the craft of telling a bold story with as few words as possible, and I hope my images reflect this well.
While my joy has been primarily in fine art landscape imagery (I know… pretentious verbiage, ewe), I wish to continue to develop my photography skills in a variety of fields and styles. I am also excited to see all the places it will take and connections I will make.”
Please join us Friday, December 4th at 6:00pm for a virtual art opening to celebrate Braden and his gift of creativity to our community. We’ll also take some time for a spiritual practice with one of his photos. Please RSVP for the Zoom Link.
